Mrs. Nancy Hatch Dupree

Mrs. Nancy Dupree was born in 1927 in Cooperstown, New York and went to Barnard College and Columbia University to study Chinese. She also recieved two honorary PHD awards from Williams University and the American University of Afghanistan  Ms. Dubrey lived most of her life in Afghanistan that was her second home-country. She put a lot of effort in collecting information about the history and culture of Afghanistan and could open a place at Kabul University which is the best resource for finding information for the present and future generations. In her memorial on 12th September of 2017, officials from different governmental organizations gave speech. For sure, Afghans will never forget her unique services and her death is a big loss for the cultural and academic community. She was a true friend of Afghan people.  H.E Rula (Bibi Gul) Ghani, expressed her condolences to the cultural and academic community of Afghanistan for the death of Ms. Nancy Hatch Dupree ,an American historian whose work primarily focused on the history of modern Afghanistan. H.E apperciated Ms. Dupree’s service in maintaining the Afghan Culture and providing a center for research and information at Kabul University
